Change doesn't come easy but riches do for those who are already rich and poverty for those who are already poor. To break from one platform to another, some kind of sacrifice would have to be offered. Nigeria favours the rich by keeping them rich while it favours the poor by keeping them poor. For either element to cross to the other, it is a huge challenge as the world resists change but will eventually bow to it, when the right price has been paid.

Here are some reasons why I think the rich and poor will keep sailing in their path:

It is pretty hard to get out of the rat race
Have you seen a rat running inside those circular shafts in a lab? The rat runs so hard to escape but the shaft simply keeps spinning and milking the rat. No matter how fast the rat runs, the machine would simply keep on spinning and helps generate electricity for the master. In Nigeria, the poor are like a milking machine really for the rich. The harder a poor person works, the richer the rich gets while the poor only get bread crumbs. In order to get out of the rat race, he needs to do something different than he's been doing all his life - He needs change.

The rich are more informed
Information is power. Most rich people have a solid foundation of good education from childhood to adulthood. The rich also spend their leisure time in further studying such following economic news, understanding government laws or watching educative television. Most poor people spend most of their time working and only use their leisure to sleep or get additional jobs. If a poor man gets more education, whether formal or informal, he would get richer.

Most poor don't have strong will power for change
What separates poor people and the rich is that of emotional strength. The rich are more strong willed when they decide to do things and see it through. Most poor Nigerians tend to give up if it doesn't work for them rather than keep trying. Rich people are not used to giving up easily. A poor man would need to show a strong will for change in order to get rich. It could take a huge sacrifice at the start but the going gets easier as you climb the ladder.

The rich hardly share information
It's only a natural instinct. Rich people believe if they share information about their wealth, they would have more competition so it's best to keep it a secret or at least known to very few people. It's normal, it's not wickedness really but merely a battle for survival.

Yes, don't think about what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.
