I've written of several ways to make money online in Nigeria and making use of Youtube is one of them.

One of the biggest ways of making money currently from Youtube is their partnership programme and this is how major publishers like Nollywoodlove and a lot of other Nigerian movie producers are earning some good income. It is linked to the Google adsense publishing programme that allows online publishers to earn income from clicks and impressions their content generates.

The problem however with YouTube's partnership program is that it is not yet available to Nigerian residents but rather still only open to people who are residents in countries like the UK, US, Canada and so on. So, Youtube's partnership program doesn't work yet for Nigerian residents but there are many more ways to make money from Youtube without being a partner.

One of the ways I make money with YouTube is by driving traffic to my affiliate links. YouTube is basically online tv right? So, one can convert a bit of that traffic from viewers to your affiliate landing page.

I have a Youtube channel where I create and upload some of my entertaining videos. I also do have an account with Amazon's associate program as an affiliate so what I do is combine Youtube traffic to my Amazon affiliate links and I get results.

It may not be big income compared to how much my websites generate from Google adsense but it's a good enough income that adds up over time.

My YouTube channel has a couple of videos already but one particular video already has over 500,000 page views and would grow to a million by the end of 2013. In total, my Youtube channel already has over 1 million page views and believe me, it can be hard getting that much views on your channel. At times, it takes just one viral video for your channel to grow more popular.

What I did was recognize that I already had traffic and then use Google url shortner to create a link to my affiliate page which I then added to the video description which is hosted on Youtube. As more people watch the video, some may be encouraged to click on the linking and probably buy something from the Amazon link which I referred. That referral earns me a commission which can be from 4 to 10% of sales.

There are many other ways to make money from YouTube in Nigeria but YouTube > Affiliate traffic earns me some good commission.

Amazon affiliate can pay people in Nigeria by means of a foreign cheque or gift card.
