So you have a Paypal account and have like $500 already in it, but how do you withdraw from it assuming you are in a country like Nigeria where Paypal does not operate and withdrawing from it can be a huge task. Well, if you have a Paypal debit card from the USA, you can use it to withdraw from an ATM but assuming the only option for your registered country is by bank account, you definitely cannot withdraw directly from Paypal to a Nigerian bank account.

So how do you do it?

Well, what most people normally use is a friendly service whereby you send Paypal funds to someone who needs it and then he pays you cash for the funds.

You may also use of various Paypal exchange services available in Nigeria and they would pay a deposit to your Nigerian bank account once they have confirmed your Paypal payment.

Another third option is to make use or e-currency auction sites like exchangezone.com. ExchangeZone (EZ) allows users to open an account and then offer funds like Paypal for Liberty reserve. So you would need to open a liberty reserve account with the same address and country details you used in opening the Paypal account and with it, you can start making bids and offers for your e-currency of choice. You can sell your paypal funds for whatever amount you want and you can also buy funds there too.

This simply means that to use this auction site to withdraw money from your Paypal account, you just need the following:
- A paypal account with funds
- A liberty reserve account

Other users in countries like Kenya where Paypal does not currently allow bank withdrawals also make use of mobile money called Mpesa to withdraw from Paypal. What they do is buy Mpesa credits with their Paypal funds and when they get credited, they can exchange it for Kenyan Shillings. In Nigeria, it seems the equivalent of that would be using Paypal to buy MTN airtime at online stores and then selling them for physical cash in Nigeria.

That is for those who still need to use a Paypal account in Nigeria despite the fact that Paypal is still scared on Naija. It can be a risk using a Paypal account down here but if you want to do so legally, you should open an account with a country's address you really have a residence in just for caution sake.
