One easy way I have not mentioned yet on how you could make money in Nigeria is by writing and selling them on the internet.

In order to be able to sell your books automatically and on autopilot on the internet, you need to first of all get the manuscript in digital form and then open an account with an internet publisher and which better publisher would you choose than Amazon.com?

You could write your book in Nigeria, have the manuscript ready and publish them on the internet without having to look for a book deal or publisher in Nigeria to invest in you. That shows you how the internet can help a lot of Nigerians who may be educated but not know how to go about publishing their books to the world. How do you think writers like Chinua Achebe or Chimamamda Ngozi are still able to make money just from single books they's written? One good thing I know about writing books is that it allows you to make a single effort while the money keeps rolling in, over an over again. You would not need to keep writing the same book over and over again. All you would need to do is write it once and keep selling over and over again. Chinua Achebe's copy of Things fall apart is still being sold on the internet inspite of the fact that it was first published in 1958. Chinua wrote in simple English that everyone could understand and this book has probably become the most popular book written in Nigeria till date.

So how do you go about this? Well, it's simple.

Steps to getting your book published online
- Make sure that you've written a useful book with good grammar and has been proof read
- Get your book ready in digital form e.g. .doc, pdf
- Create a good graphic or image for your book cover
- Sign up with Createspace.com and upload your book
- Create your ebook in the format to be printed
- Upload your ebook and cover
- Set your pricing and sales channels, including Amazon.com
- Order a copy or just skip it
- Approve the book and begin marketing it

After setting up your book with Createspace.com you can choose the sales channels and decide whether to make money by:

- Allowing Createspace to sell it. You get a sales commission
- Buy the books yourself at discount to sell in Nigeria

Personal Review
I already have a book published online which you can see here. It sells for $8 and I get a commission of about $2. I may also buy the books at $3 and sell myself at $8 but I would also have to account for shipping and storage costs. So, either way it pays to distribute your book on the internet. The most important thing is delivering to your audience because if they get satisfied with your first book, chances are that they would keep buying from you.

Log into your account and click on "Add new title". Follow the process to completion. You will need to upload your manuscript and book cover in the prescribed format and then select your sales channel. You should then authorize createspace.com to sell it for you and they normally include an ISBN and copyright details on it.
